Apple (AAPL.US) is planning a significant upgrade to its Camera application, aiming to make the software fully customizable. This move is part of a broader user interface redesign planned for its next major iPhone software update. According to informed sources, the new system will allow users to decide which features appear in the Camera app and where they are placed. This includes controls for flash, exposure, timer, and resolution. Beyond photo, video, and other standard functions, the updated app will introduce a Siri mode, leveraging Apple's visual intelligence capabilities. This is expected to simplify tasks such as plant identification or text translation into other languages. These changes are anticipated to appeal not only by offering a more personalized experience but also by attracting professional users. The next major iPhone software update, iOS 27, is also set to introduce notable design changes across several areas, including the Siri digital assistant, system search, and applications like Safari, Image Playground, and Weather. Apple also plans system-level adjustments, such as new animation effects and a redesigned tab bar. iOS 27 will undergo a comprehensive overhaul of Siri, transforming it from a simple voice assistant into a continuously available smart assistant capable of accessing personal data and performing actions across various apps. Furthermore, Siri has been redesigned to engage in two-way conversations with a chatbot-like interface, similar in appearance to applications like ChatGPT and Gemini. This Tuesday, Alphabet's Google (GOOG) also announced its own operating system and AI updates. The company unveiled Android 17 and Gemini Intelligence, adding new features like AI-powered home screen widget creation. Additionally, a new Rambler dictation mode was introduced, designed to filter out common verbal filler words and handle tasks such as synchronizing a shopping list from a notes app with a food delivery application. Apple is scheduled to unveil the new iOS, the completely revamped Siri, and other updated operating systems at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8. These interface changes aim to refine the Liquid Glass design language introduced last year. The upcoming macOS 27 also incorporates design adjustments intended to address controversial issues from last year concerning shadows and transparency. In some instances, these visual flaws had made on-screen text difficult to read.
