The Pearl River shimmered gold under brilliant lights on the evening of October 24, as the "Greater Bay Area Dream Creation - Cantonese Rhyme United" 2026 Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau Trade Union Art Gala honoring the motherland took place in Guangzhou.
Trade union representatives and worker masses from the three regions gathered in the city to praise the great motherland through song and celebrate the deep bonds of unity across the Greater Bay Area.
Guided by the Guangdong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, the event was organized by the Guangzhou Workers' Cultural Palace with co-organization by the Yuancun Workers' Cultural Palace.
The gala featured three core segments: artistic performances, "Greater Bay Area Dream Creation" entrepreneurship sharing, and youth interaction and exchange among the three regions.
The stage was set on the flowing waters of the Pearl River, deeply integrating Lingnan water culture, Greater Bay Area scenery, and worker culture into an immersive exchange event for workers from Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau.
At the opening, Yin Hongliang, Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, delivered a speech on behalf of the three co-hosts, welcoming and thanking the leaders, guests, trade union colleagues, and worker friends from the three regions, and expressing hopes for workers to build the Greater Bay Area together with one heart.
The unveiling ceremony of the "Greater Bay Area Dream Creation Workshop" then took place.
As an important platform jointly established by the Guangzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, and specifically operated by the Yuancun Workers' Cultural Palace, the workshop is a comprehensive service brand formed by integrating and upgrading the "Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau Worker Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base" and the "Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau Craftsman Academy."
Centered on "policy guidance, skills empowerment, and incubation for dream fulfillment," it provides full-chain, companion-style services for Greater Bay Area youth. Before the integration, it had cumulatively held over 60 activities, served over 10,000 young people, incubated 38 enterprises, and trained nearly 1,000 skilled talents.
Witnessed by all attendees, the "Greater Bay Area Dream Creation Workshop" brand was officially launched.
With river breeze accompanying music and the Pearl River reflecting original aspirations, the event closely centered on "patriotic sentiment, Greater Bay Area unity, worker elegance, and Lingnan characteristics."
Performances were mainly sung in Cantonese, conveying positive energy and showcasing the themes of "patriotic heart, Greater Bay Area soul, beauty of labor, and love for home and country."
A total of 40 works were widely solicited from trade unions across the three regions, and after review and selection, 14 programs were chosen for the gala.
Multiple grassroots worker art troupes took the stage in turn, including those from the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, the Guangzhou Workers' Pearl River Piano Choir, and the Guangzhou Metro Group Trade Union.
A rich variety of performances including chorus, solo, a cappella, and band medleys were presented one after another, featuring both artistic expressions with Lingnan charm and the deep patriotic feelings of Hong Kong and Macau workers.
Singing and music interwoven with the evening breeze on the river and the brilliant lights on both banks, with the live scene and cityscape enhancing each other, creating a uniquely riverside artistic atmosphere.
The performance segments were interspersed with themed interviews on the "Greater Bay Area Dream Creation Workshop" and sharing of entrepreneurship stories by Hong Kong and Macau youth in the Greater Bay Area, with three vivid stories of striving alternating with artistic performances.
Young entrepreneurs from Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau recounted their personal experiences of taking root in the Greater Bay Area and pursuing their dreams, sharing genuine reflections on policy support, entrepreneurial practice, and life integration, vividly demonstrating the spirit of workers from the three regions striving forward together across geographical boundaries.
Heartfelt sharing on stage resonated deeply with the audience below, further highlighting the distinctive brand of the "Greater Bay Area Dream Creation Workshop" in serving Hong Kong and Macau youth by the Pearl River, and building a bridge for dialogue and mutual exchange of ideas and experience.
When the entire audience sang "My Motherland and I" together, the stirring melody resounded across the river, echoed by the brilliant lights on both banks, pushing the atmosphere of the entire event to its climax.
One river connects three regions, building dreams together toward the future.
The event used culture to unite hearts and emotion to gather strength, breaking down regional barriers, promoting deep cultural integration among trade union workers in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau, further consolidating the bonds of exchange among workers and youth across the three regions, and pooling the strength of the vast number of workers to gather tremendous collective force for the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
