A fire broke out under the Long'an Bridge in Beiliu Town on February 25, 2026, at approximately 14:00. Local town and village officials, along with fire rescue personnel, responded to the scene and completely extinguished the flames by 15:00 the same day. No injuries were reported, and the incident did not lead to any secondary issues.
Following on-site investigation and verification, it was determined that the fire was caused by four middle school students who were illegally setting off fireworks on the bridge. Sparks from the fireworks fell and ignited dry bamboo debris on the shallow bank beneath the bridge. Town and village authorities, together with the students' parents, have since conducted educational sessions with the four students, who have sincerely acknowledged their mistake.
A comprehensive and detailed safety inspection of the Long'an Bridge was carried out by professional technicians. The assessment confirmed that the fire did not cause any damage to the main structure of the bridge, and all technical indicators currently meet safety standards for public use. Professional technicians have been assigned to continue monitoring the bridge to ensure its safe operation.
