Fujian province has released a new strategic plan to develop four key industrial pathways, aiming to build a strong position in the technology sector. This initiative is designed to meet the rising demands of the artificial intelligence industry and other high-tech fields.
The plan, titled the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Emerging and Future Industries," outlines a focused approach to leveraging the province's existing strengths in semiconductor manufacturing. The core strategy is to cultivate and grow four specific areas: integrated circuits, compound semiconductors, next-generation displays, and optoelectronic components.
For integrated circuits, the emphasis will be on improving capabilities in chip design, specialized manufacturing processes, advanced packaging, and testing, all to support future high-performance and low-power chips. The compound semiconductor path aims to accelerate the development of wide and ultra-wide bandgap technologies, building a complete and robust industry chain.
In the display sector, the plan concentrates on breakthroughs in future display technologies to lead the premium market. Finally, for optoelectronic components, the focus will be on tackling core materials and key devices, establishing the region as a primary hub for innovation in photonics materials and components.
