SoftBank, NEC, Honda, and Sony will each hold approximately 10% of the shares in a newly established artificial intelligence company, according to a media report released on Sunday. The new venture is expected to employ around 100 AI developers. The report did not disclose its sources.

SoftBank and NEC will be responsible for the research and development of foundational large-scale AI models, while Honda and Sony plan to apply artificial intelligence across various fields, including automobiles, robotics, gaming, and semiconductors.

Nippon Steel and major banks such as MUFG, Sumitomo Mitsui, and Mizuho will participate as minority investors in the venture.

The AI model will be made available for use by Japanese companies, and even non-investors will be able to deploy it with customization.
