Stock News07-21

Shares across the mobile phone supply chain have seen a broad recovery. At the time of writing, Lens Technology (06613) was up 5.55% at HK$22.46, Sunny Optical (ASX: 02382) gained 5.02% to HK$57.55, Q TECH (01478) rose 3.27% to HK$6.95, and COWELL (01415) increased by 3.16% to HK$22.18.

The movement follows a report citing supply chain sources indicating that Xiaomi has raised its full-year smartphone shipment target for 2026 from approximately 90 million units to 110 million units, representing an increase of about 16%. The additional volume is said to be primarily focused on lower-end models. As of the time of writing, Xiaomi has not officially responded to this report.

According to the report, a person close to the company stated that the shipment target revision was based on an internal expectation at Xiaomi that the current memory chip price surge may soon reverse.

It is noteworthy that during the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, exhibits featuring AI phones, AI glasses, and other edge AI devices attracted significant attention. Products such as Honor's Robot Phone, StepFun's Agent Phone, and ZTE's Nubia second-generation Doubao phone were showcased, with system-level agents, cross-application execution, and device-cloud collaboration becoming key discussion points.

Experts at the event suggested that 2026 marks a pivotal year for edge AI, transitioning from proof-of-concept to large-scale implementation. Devices like smartphones, PCs, and glasses are increasingly becoming vital gateways for AI services, potentially heralding the start of a new hardware upgrade cycle.
