The "2026 China International Gold Conference and Gansu Gold Industry High-Quality Development Conference" took place in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, from July 15 to 18.
Organized by the China Gold Association under the theme "Gold Empowers the West, the Silk Road Creates the Future," the event concentrated on the green and intelligent development of gold resources, industrial transformation, and financial innovation.
As a strategic partner of the conference, CCB hosted a dedicated forum titled "Green Finance Empowers High-Quality Gold Industry Development" on the morning of July 17.
The forum brought together over 200 participants, including industry experts and representatives from the gold supply chain, to deliberate on how green finance can support industrial upgrading and bolster international competitiveness in the gold sector.
Wang Bing, a member of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice Governor; Ji Zhihong, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of CCB; and Li Hua, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Shanghai Gold Exchange, delivered opening addresses.
Wang Bing highlighted Gansu's strengths in the gold industry and proposed initiatives for its high-quality advancement, focusing on strengthening the industrial chain, fostering diversified integration, and deepening industry-finance collaboration.
Ji Zhihong outlined CCB's extensive work in green finance, detailing its comprehensive service system that includes green credit, green bonds, green supply chain financing, and carbon finance innovations to facilitate the gold industry's green transition.
Li Hua expressed that the Shanghai Gold Exchange will continue to support high-tech industries in developing new productive forces, aid refiners in achieving green upgrades, and guide the gold recycling market toward greater standardization.
Keynote speeches were presented by three distinguished guests: Xu Huaqing, former Director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation; Duan Maosheng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy at Tsinghua University; and Wang Naixiang, Chairman of the Beijing Green Exchange.
They elaborated on China's dual-carbon goals and related policies, carbon market development, the latest trends in aligning low-carbon standards internationally, and corporate carbon reduction pathways, offering valuable insights for the gold industry's low-carbon transformation.
Representatives from CCB's Precious Metals & Commodities Business Department and its Gansu Branch shared the bank's practical experience in providing targeted financial support and its holistic green finance services for the entire gold industry chain.
A panel discussion featured leaders from the World Gold Council, China National Gold Group, Materion, Shenzhen Batai Group, and Ouyeel (under China Baowu Steel Group).
They shared on-site experiences and achievements in utilizing green finance to drive industrial transformation both internationally and domestically within leading enterprises across the gold value chain.
