Shanghai backs direct satellite internet access for individual users via phones or portable terminals, and supports carriers in launching discounted satellite internet packages

Deep News10-26

On October 26, six departments including the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization issued the "Shanghai Satellite Internet Industry Innovation and Development Action Plan (2027-2030)."

Among its points, the plan calls for advancing To C benefit-the-public service applications.

It supports individual users in accessing satellite internet through direct mobile phone connections or portable terminals, providing low-cost, high-speed internet access services for ground communication blind spots.

It supports carriers in launching discounted satellite internet service packages to lower user costs, continuously cultivate and develop potential users, and promote satellite connectivity from "specialized equipment" to a mass-consumer "ordinary service," achieving ubiquitous connectivity everywhere.
