The "Splendid Seventy Years, Blooming with Brilliance" series of performances celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Tianjin Peking Opera Theatre commenced its Shanghai leg at the Tianchan Yifu Stage. A collaborative rendition of the classic opera "Silang Visits His Mother," featuring renowned artists, was the opening act, showcasing the artistic strength and prestige of Tianjin, a major hub for traditional Chinese theatre.

Since its establishment in 1956, the Tianjin Peking Opera Theatre has nurtured generations of artists and professionals, renowned for their comprehensive strength, exquisite skills, and mastery of both civil and martial arts. As a nationally key Peking Opera troupe, it upholds tradition while innovating, producing a series of classic and contemporary works that demonstrate its collective prowess and promote the quintessence of Chinese culture.

Coinciding with its 70th anniversary this year, the theatre launched a celebratory performance series earlier this year, with successful shows already held in Tianjin and Beijing. Theatre Director Wang Zeqi stated that this Shanghai tour, running from June 19th to 21st, features five performances. The lineup boasts a powerful cast including celebrated Peking Opera artist Li Li, Plum Blossom Award winners Wang Yan, Lv Yang, and Huang Qifeng, alongside several national first-class actors and gold medalists from the Young Peking Opera Artists Competition. They will collaborate with numerous esteemed artists from the Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre. This tour, through the joint performances by stars from these two major opera troupes, not only displays the rich artistic heritage cultivated over Tianjin Peking Opera Theatre's 70-year history but also uses theatre as a bridge to deepen North-South cultural exchange within Peking Opera and jointly promote the prosperity and development of the art form.

Yesterday's performance of "Silang Visits His Mother" was filled with stage highlights and garnered enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience. It is reported that on the 20th and 21st, the Tianjin Peking Opera Theatre will continue its Shanghai run with performances of traditional operas such as "Protecting the Nation, Exploring the Imperial Tombs, Entering the Palace Twice," "The Gathering of Heroes, Borrowing the East Wind, Huarong Trail," and "The Red-Maned Steed," alongside a concert featuring famous arias by celebrated artists.
