Golden Solar New Energy Technology Holdings Limited (Golden Solar) has confirmed that its U.S. subsidiary, Eco-Dynamic Tech Inc, and Sweden-based Dometic Group AB have moved their joint solar-powered RV awning program from lab validation to active field trials.
The partners have completed three of seven planned development phases, covering initial sample evaluation, durability testing under added panel weight and the installation of a first field-deployed unit. Multiple prototypes have undergone repeated extension–retraction cycles, validating mechanical integrity and supporting continued advancement into production-readiness.
The awnings integrate Golden Solar’s proprietary Hybrid Back Contact solar cells, independently verified at 28.2 % conversion efficiency—among the highest publicly reported for flexible modules. Current workstreams focus on structural validation, scalable manufacturing for sewing and lamination, electrical routing, packaging and service support, all prerequisites for customer field validation and first commercial shipments.
Market indicators point to a sizeable addressable opportunity. The RV Industry Association forecasts approximately 349,000 North American wholesale RV shipments in 2026, marking a third consecutive annual increase. Consultancy Dataintelo values the global RV awning segment at about USD 1.80 billion for 2025, with expansion to more than USD 3.00 billion by the early 2030s; solar-capable models are cited as the fastest-growing niche. Dometic’s status as a leading OEM awning supplier gives Golden Solar a potential high-volume route to market, with parallel development underway at Dometic’s Zhuhai unit to address Asia-Pacific demand across nearly 1 million registered caravans.
Key next steps include finalising technical specifications, establishing scalable production, initiating certification and launching pilot production ahead of targeted first shipments. No definitive supply contract or binding commercial terms have been agreed, and the collaboration remains subject to market conditions. Shareholders and prospective investors are advised that commercial success is not assured until these agreements are finalised.
