From December 5th to 7th, the "2025 China Entrepreneurs Influence Annual Conference" (formerly known as the China Business Leaders Summit) was held in Beijing under the theme "Emergence · Infinite – Co-Creating the New Era of Intelligent Business." NIO Inc. (NIO) founder, chairman, and CEO Li Bin attended and delivered a speech.
Li Bin noted that globally, only two companies focus exclusively on pure electric vehicles, and NIO is one of them. He remarked humorously that in the first quarter of this year, everyone was calculating how much money NIO had lost, with concerns like, "If you buy our cars, will there be anyone to service them in the future?" However, by the third quarter, perceptions shifted, and it felt like "NIO is back on track."
What drove this change? Li Bin explained that this shift reflects NIO's decade-long belief: ultimately, everything must return to user benefits, value creation, and user experience to determine whether a technological path is correct. Over the past decade, the new energy vehicle industry has essentially explored the best technological solutions at different stages to assess user experience. For instance, why did extended-range EVs sell well in recent years? Li Bin pointed out that extended-range EVs offered a better user experience when charging and battery-swapping infrastructure was underdeveloped. At that time, the advantages of pure electric technology over extended-range solutions were unclear, as pure EVs had yet to achieve a qualitative leap from quantitative accumulation.
Li Bin emphasized that NIO has focused on two key initiatives over the past decade: continuously advancing pure EV technology to deliver value to users and improving charging and battery-swapping experiences to make recharging as convenient as refueling. "This year marked a turning point because the user experience benefits of pure EV technology now outweigh the inconveniences of charging, resulting in a net positive for users," he concluded.
