Ninth South Korean Oil Tanker Safely Navigates Red Sea to Ensure Crude Supply

South Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on Sunday that a South Korean vessel has successfully traversed the Red Sea and is currently on its return voyage. This marks the ninth South Korean ship to transport crude oil via this route.

In response to shipping disruptions affecting the Strait of Hormuz, South Korea is actively developing alternative oil transport routes. The tanker in question loaded crude oil at the Saudi Arabian port of Yanbu before navigating through the Red Sea.

Since April of this year, a total of nine such crude oil tanker transits have been completed.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries stated, "During the vessel's passage through the Red Sea, we implemented round-the-clock situation monitoring, continuously provided safety information, and ensured seamless communication between the government, the carrier, and the vessel."

The ministry added, "We will continue our efforts to ensure a stable domestic crude oil supply."
