Prudential cuts share count through latest buyback and cancellation

Prudential plc said it cancelled 380,161 ordinary shares on Aug, 21 2026 after completing a share repurchase executed on Aug, 19 2026. The cancelled shares equate to roughly 0.015% of the insurer’s outstanding stock.

The cancellation trimmed Prudential’s issued share capital to 2,497,843,768 shares from 2,498,223,929.

Prudential also disclosed that it had repurchased, for future cancellation, an additional 755,652 shares on Aug, 20 2026 and Aug, 21 2026.

Under its shareholder mandate granted on May, 14 2025, the company is authorised to buy back up to about 262.7 million shares. It has so far repurchased approximately 115.1 million shares, representing 4.42% of the shares outstanding at the time the mandate was approved.
