A key project undertaken by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau), a Tianjin-based central state-owned enterprise, has entered a major new phase. The comprehensive transportation corridor project in Dagushan, Anshan, Liaoning Province, has officially launched the full-scale application of the "Jinshi" hard rock tunnel boring machine (TBM). The cutterhead began rotating and excavation commenced, marking the project's formal entry into the main tunnel hard rock boring construction stage.
The Dagushan comprehensive transportation corridor project is a critical ore conveying facility built to support mining operations. The TBM boring section of this project is characterized by soft and weak strata, steep gradients, and long distances. An open-type hard rock TBM was selected for construction, integrating rock breaking, muck removal, and support operations into a single system. Once completed, it will provide a technical pathway and organizational experience for similar mines seeking to build long-distance transportation lines under complex geological conditions.
Facing complex geological conditions, the project team has successively implemented comprehensive treatment measures including karst cave grouting and sealing, pipe roof plus advanced small conduit forepoling, localized steel frame spacing densification, and advanced grouting waterproof curtains for strata. These measures are aimed at fully ensuring construction safety and structural stability.
In addition, the team has promoted the application of standardized tooling including rebar installation clamps, connecting plate protective covers, arch centering devices, and waterproof membrane hot-melt gasket positioning clamps, driving tight coordination and quality control across all construction processes.
A responsible person from the China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau project team stated that once the project is completed, it will open up a continuous belt conveyor transportation channel for ore in the Dagushan mining area. This will effectively alleviate issues such as mutual interference between ore transportation and environmental protection of the Qianshan Scenic Area, as well as safety management challenges in ore transportation.
