Deep News11-14

At the "China's Industrial Landscape in the AI Era" roundtable during the 2025 Shanghai Stock Exchange International Investors Conference, Dai Weimin, Chairman and CEO of Verisilicon Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., stated that the rapid development of generative AI and spatial computing is driving significant growth in demand for AI ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits). He emphasized that AI is evolving from cloud computing to edge intelligence.

Dai highlighted Verisilicon's strong technical expertise in AI custom chips. The company, often referred to as "China's leading semiconductor IP provider" since its IPO, has now gained recognition as a "leader in AI ASICs" due to its expanding industry influence.

Discussing future technological trends, Dai noted the shift from cloud-based AI to edge intelligence. He cited AI glasses and other portable smart devices as examples, where real-time computing power and energy efficiency will be critical. "True innovation isn’t just about deploying models in the cloud—it’s about running them on the edge, making devices more context-aware and user-responsive," he said.

He also mentioned Verisilicon’s ongoing exploration of new applications like AI-powered glasses and toys. Dai predicted that domain-specific models in education, healthcare, and finance will increasingly adopt on-device fine-tuning, marking a major transition in the AI industry from cloud to edge.
