On February 28, three key national oil and gas infrastructure projects—the Su-Wan-Yu trunk line, the Wen23-Anqing natural gas pipeline, and the Shandong northern pipeline network (Phase I)—were simultaneously launched in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, and Shandong. This marks a new phase in the development of a unified national natural gas pipeline network, which is significant for improving the national pipeline layout, promoting regional energy structure transformation, and supporting high-quality economic development.
The Su-Wan-Yu trunk line project starts from the Tongyu distribution station in Yancheng, Jiangsu, and ends at the Luodong compressor station in Pingdingshan, Henan. It passes through 14 cities and 29 counties across three provinces, with a total length of 822.5 kilometers. The pipeline is designed for a pressure of 10 MPa and an annual transmission capacity of 18.3 billion cubic meters.
The Wen23-Anqing natural gas pipeline is a key channel for transporting natural gas from the north to the south. The new pipeline spans 645.5 kilometers, starting from the Wen23 storage injection station in Puyang County, Henan, and ending at the Anqing connection station in Daguan District, Anqing, Anhui. It traverses eight cities and 20 districts across three provinces, with a design pressure of 10 MPa and an initial transmission capacity of 15 billion cubic meters, expandable to 25.3 billion cubic meters in the future.
The Shandong northern pipeline network (Phase I) project extends 257 kilometers through Yantai and Weifang, with an annual transmission capacity of 11.8 billion cubic meters.
Upon completion, these three trunk pipelines will significantly enhance pipeline density and interconnectivity in central and eastern China. They will play a vital role in optimizing the national pipeline network, advancing regional energy transition, and supporting high-quality economic growth.
The National Pipeline Network Group continues to improve the unified national network layout. With the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the group has increased investment in energy infrastructure. The three pipelines represent a total investment of over 30 billion yuan, which is expected to drive growth in related industries such as steel, equipment manufacturing, and construction. This initiative will further support the development of a modern industrial system, safeguard national energy security, and inject strong momentum into building China into an energy powerhouse.
