President Donald Trump announced he will nominate Lance Schroyer to serve as the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and urged the Senate to approve the appointment "immediately."
Trump made the announcement in a social media post on Saturday, noting that Schroyer is a former Oklahoma state trooper and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Trump wrote, "He is a Patriot, has frontline operational experience, and is a proven leader with decades of experience hunting down the worst of criminals."
Currently, David Vincerla is serving as the acting head of the immigration agency. The previous acting director of ICE, Todd Lyons, announced his departure in April, with his final day being May 31. The agency has not had a confirmed director during Trump's second term.
