French Telecom Leader Orange Raises Core Profit Outlook as Revenue Climbs

Orange has increased its full-year guidance for EBITDA after leases growth, now expecting an increase of more than 3%, compared to a previous forecast of approximately 3%. The French telecommunications operator reported higher revenue for the first quarter, driven primarily by strong performance in Africa and the Middle East.

The company continues to project organic cash flow of around 4 billion euros ($4.68 billion) and anticipates capital expenditure will remain at approximately 15% of revenue.

First-quarter revenue rose to 10.095 billion euros from 9.755 billion euros in the same period last year.

On a comparable basis: - Revenue in France grew by 2.3%, supported by increases in both retail and wholesale segments. - Revenue in Europe increased by 2.2%. - Revenue in Africa and the Middle East surged by approximately 13%, propelled by retail services including mobile data, fixed broadband, Orange's mobile money service, and business-to-business offerings.

Christel Heydemann, Chief Executive Officer of Orange, stated, "In the current context, the group demonstrates robustness and resilience, with limited exposure to the Middle East crisis."

EBITDA after leases increased to 2.60 billion euros from 2.44 billion euros a year earlier. According to the company's compilation of market consensus, analysts had anticipated revenue of 10.02 billion euros and EBITDA after leases of 2.58 billion euros.
