Deep News08:03

Four companies based in Hunan's Xiangjiang New District have been included in the inaugural membership roster of the Commercial Aerospace Innovation Consortium, a national initiative. This selection underscores the region's growing prominence in China's aerospace sector.

The list, released by the Major Special Project Center of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, features 271 entities nationwide. Among them, five are from Changsha, with four originating from the Xiangjiang New District.

The selected companies are Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Hunan Hangsheng Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., Hunan Lanyue Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd., and Changsha Beidou Industrial Safety Technology Research Institute Group Co., Ltd.. This achievement marks a significant step for Changsha in supporting national aerospace strategy and integrating into the commercial aerospace ecosystem.

Formation and Mission of the Consortium

The Commercial Aerospace Innovation Consortium was initiated by the China National Space Administration on April 24, 2025, and officially launched during the main event for the tenth "China Space Day." The consortium operates under the principles of "government guidance, enterprise leadership, collaborative innovation, industrial promotion, open cooperation, and standardized operations." It focuses on key areas such as policy and standard dissemination, supply-demand matching, industrial integration, technological innovation, and commercialization of results, aiming to build a collaborative innovation ecosystem for commercial aerospace.

The first batch of member units spans the entire commercial aerospace chain, including rocket launch, satellite development, measurement and control, data application, and technological innovation.

Breakdown of Changsha's Selections

In the announced list, Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Hunan Hangsheng Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., and Hunan Lanyue Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. were selected for the "Satellite Development Group." Hunan Zhongke Space Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Changsha Beidou Industrial Safety Technology Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. were chosen for the "Data Application Group."

Profiles of the Selected Companies

Established a decade ago, Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. is a leading SAR satellite constellation operator in China, dedicated to providing cost-effective SAR constellation construction and integrated data services. The company has successfully launched dozens of satellites, including China's first commercial networked SAR satellites "Haisi-1," "Chaohu-1," "Fucheng-1," and "Shenqi-01." These launches filled a gap in China's commercial SAR satellite capabilities, with key technical indicators reaching internationally advanced levels. To date, Tianyi Research Institute has completed multiple rounds of equity financing, raising a cumulative total of 1.3 billion yuan.

Hunan Hangsheng Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. is a national high-tech enterprise with full-chain independent satellite development capabilities. Its technical team originates from the National University of Defense Technology, focusing on micro-satellite technology research, product development, and application services. The company has established a coordinated production layout across Changsha, Beijing, and Jinan. So far, Hangsheng Satellite has developed and launched 14 satellites, independently developed over 100 types of core components, and served the aerospace missions of more than 120 organizations.

As a representative enterprise in China's commercial aerospace field, Hunan Lanyue Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. has long focused on the R&D and manufacturing of satellite attitude and orbit control products. It has established comprehensive capabilities in design simulation, precision machining, installation testing, and environmental testing, earning market trust with high reliability and excellent space adaptability. In recent years, the company has increased R&D investment, breaking through several key core technologies. It has formed a series of products with independent intellectual property rights, delivering over 2,800 various attitude and orbit control products and serving more than 300 in-orbit satellites, maintaining a leading market position.

Significance and Regional Context

The selection of these five enterprises into the consortium's first member list highlights the comprehensive strength of Changsha's commercial aerospace industry. It is reported that the Xiangjiang New District alone has gathered over 40 companies in the commercial aerospace industry chain, nurturing listed leading enterprises such as Farsoon Technologies, Shanshan New Materials, and Diamond New Materials, forming a distinctive industrial agglomeration advantage.

Company Perspectives

"This selection is a full affirmation of Hangsheng Satellite's technical strength and industry contribution, and it also carries deeper industry expectations," stated a representative from Hangsheng Satellite. The company will continue to integrate into the consortium's collaborative innovation mechanisms, leverage its comprehensive advantages in whole-satellite development, core component R&D, and industrial ecosystem construction, work closely with industry partners, delve into the high-quality development path of commercial aerospace, and contribute "Hangsheng" strength to building a strong aerospace nation.

A representative from Lanyue Electromechanical stated that the company would take this selection as an opportunity to actively participate in the consortium's various innovation and collaboration activities, strengthen coordination with universities, research institutes, and upstream and downstream enterprises, and take initiative in key technology collaboration, industry standard formulation, and application scenario expansion. The company will further increase R&D investment in attitude and orbit control products, accelerate the construction of intelligent assembly and digital production lines, and continuously improve product delivery assurance capabilities and quality consistency levels.
