SanDisk Corp. stocks jumped 2% in overnight trading after soaring 27% in the previous trading day.

CRITICAL METALS CORPORATION  shares soared on Tuesday, with gains spilling over into overnight trading amid rising speculation over whether the Donald Trump administration will lead the U.S. into acquiring Greenland from Denmark.

A U.S. acquisition of Greenland stands to benefit Critical Metals, which is developing a major rare earths project– Tanbreez– in the region.

Shares of the firm jumped 25.7% on Tuesday, and added another 13.5% in overnight trading.

Speculation over a U.S. takeover of Greenland surged this week after a report showed Secretary of State Marco Rubio telling lawmakers that Trump intends to buy the resource-rich island from Denmark.

Trump had said last month that the U.S. needs Greenland for its national security and that a special envoy he had appointed to the Arctic island would lead Washington’s efforts for the region.

Danish leaders have wholly rejected the notion of a U.S. takeover of Greenland. The island is a self-governing Danish territory.

Washington’s incursion in Venezuela and potential takeover of its oil industry also spurred speculation over similar measures in other regions, especially with the Trump administration’s focus on securing key metal and mineral supplies outside China.

Critical Metals is part of Washington’s plans, given that the company is building a rare earths supply chain centered around the West. Rare earths are a critical component of several major industries, ranging from consumer electronics to military weapons, and China holds a monopoly on their production.

Beijing was seen using its dominance in rare earths as a major bargaining chip in a trade conflict with the U.S. in 2025.

Critical Metals told Reuters last week that it expects to finalize the remaining 25% of offtake agreements for Tanbreez by early-2026, and that it remained open to an investment from Washington.
