Robots folded clothes, poured coffee, and delivered packages with remarkable dexterity as the 2025 Zhongguancun Embodied AI Robotics Application Competition finals commenced on November 17. A total of 99 elite teams from across the globe gathered in Zhongguancun for the two-day event, competing across 19 core tasks to advance real-world applications of embodied intelligence technology.
Organized by the Zhongguancun Science City Administrative Committee under the guidance of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the competition centers on the theme "Labor Creates Glory" and the slogan "Embodied Intelligence Leads the Future." It focuses on practical scenarios including household services, commercial applications, industrial manufacturing, and emergency response—aiming to transition embodied AI robots from lab prototypes to functional solutions that "work effectively and deliver results."
The competition launched on June 14 during the 2025 China Robotics AI Conference, featuring three categories: Embodied AI Model Challenges, Scenario Applications, and Academic-Industrial Innovation. Initially attracting 157 teams tackling 192 tasks, the rigorous selection process narrowed the field to 99 finalists competing in the championship round.
