DiDi Global Inc. Issues Holiday Travel Safety Advisory as Mid-Autumn and National Day Festivals Approach

Deep News09-24

As the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday approach, demand for returning home for family reunions and traveling will be released in a concentrated manner.

During the extended holiday, supply and demand will be imbalanced in certain areas and time periods, and scenarios such as long-distance driving, nighttime travel, and riding after drinking will increase.

Under the guidance of regulatory authorities, DiDi Global Inc. has comprehensively launched safety assurance work arrangements for the extended holiday, coordinating risk hazard inspections, organizing emergency drills, upgrading safety features, optimizing service experience, and strengthening driver rights protection, making every effort to safeguard the travel safety of both passengers and drivers during the holiday.

Safety capabilities continue to upgrade, safeguarding every trip around the clock

Building on years of safety system development, DiDi Global Inc. continues to upgrade its AI safety warning system, strengthening identification and intervention for key scenarios such as fatigued driving, speeding, and distracted driving, with tens of millions of risk alerts and interventions daily, striving to minimize accident risks.

Fatigued driving. The platform strictly enforces anti-fatigued driving rules, combining driver order volume, driving patterns, driving duration, and order distance characteristics to remind and intervene with suspected fatigued drivers, estimated at approximately 2 million orders per day; after AI models identify fatigue characteristics, tiered handling is applied through outbound call reminders, Jushi intercom dissuasion, and when necessary, blocking from accepting orders, estimated at approximately 450,000 orders per day. Driving during the holiday is tiring, so drivers are asked to prioritize safety, follow platform safety rules, and stop to rest promptly when feeling fatigued.

Speeding. Real-time warnings are issued for speeding behavior at intersections, crosswalks, and other scenarios, estimated at approximately 9 million times per day; drivers who speed frequently within a single day have their services suspended, estimated at over 4,200 people per day. Areas with dense crowds carry higher risks, so drivers are asked to slow down and yield to pedestrians.

Distracted driving. Behavior such as operating mobile phones while driving is identified and flagged, estimated at approximately 45,000 orders per day. Drivers are asked to stay focused while accepting orders and avoid distracted operations.

At the same time, the AI safety warning system can identify risk signals by scanning orders, detecting route deviations, in-vehicle disputes, inappropriate language, and abnormal trajectories; safety customer service and safety experts are online 24/7, verifying information and assessing risks, and for high-risk orders, immediately initiating outbound call reminders, safety warnings, and when necessary, alerting police. AI and human teams work in relay throughout the entire process, striving to reinforce safety defenses.

During the extended holiday, safety is the warmest concern we share for one another. Please pay extra attention to the following scenarios:

Refuse offline transactions. If drivers and passengers cancel online orders and transact privately, safety assurance mechanisms such as trajectory recording, in-vehicle audio recording, and trip sharing will simultaneously become ineffective, trip protection and insurance services cannot take effect, and there may be risks of price fraud and personal safety.

Minors riding alone require caution. If parents use adult accounts to hail rides for children without reporting, the platform may not be able to immediately activate the enhanced protection mechanisms specifically designed for minors. Minors traveling alone are prone to risks such as losing contact and in-vehicle conflicts. The platform prohibits minors under 14 from traveling alone and requires accompaniment by a guardian.

Report in advance when riding after drinking. Riding while intoxicated can easily create safety risks. It is recommended to proactively report intoxicated riding information to the platform so that the platform's safety team can focus attention and provide protection; trip sharing can also be set up to give family members greater peace of mind.

Enhanced protection for key scenarios, improving service and assurance experience

In response to holiday travel characteristics, DiDi Global Inc. has analyzed popular travel areas in advance and conducts real-time dynamic assessments, guiding drivers to hit the road through various incentive measures, with vehicle dispatch focused on transportation hubs, tourist attractions, and other high-demand areas. At the same time, through DiDi stations, boarding point real-scene images, illustrated route guides, and AR navigation routes, both drivers and passengers are helped to meet and depart more quickly.

During the extended holiday, station orders and out-of-town travel increase significantly. To improve user travel experience and protection, during the dual festivals, the DiDi Smooth Travel Card has been officially upgraded to "Worry-Free in Other Cities" travel protection, including benefits such as "compensation if no car," "rapid response," "no cancellation fee," and "fare protection," helping users depart more quickly in other cities; at the same time, fare anomalies are monitored in real time, with abnormal fare situations proactively intercepted and reduced, ensuring every travel expense is clear and transparent.

To improve the driver and passenger experience at stations, the platform will arrange over a thousand on-site guides at more than 160 key locations, covering station hubs, scenic areas, commercial districts, and other scenarios, providing ride-hailing guidance and passenger flow management. With the support and guidance of local regulatory authorities, to effectively alleviate travel pressure brought by the holiday, DiDi Global Inc. has organized assurance fleets in Beijing, Hefei, Quanzhou, and other locations as an important supplement to public transportation capacity, facilitating passenger travel.

To thank drivers for their dedication during the holiday, from September 24 to October 7, DiDi Global Inc. will distribute nearly 600 million yuan in driver subsidies across more than 300 cities nationwide, launching multiple incentive measures such as commission reduction/exemption cards, revenue acceleration cards, completion bonuses, and travel score bonuses, encouraging drivers to actively accept orders during peak travel periods and improving passenger ride-hailing experience. DiDi Taxi simultaneously launched multiple rewards and protection activities in over 300 cities, including full service fee exemption cards, check-in bonuses, completion bonuses, and completion lucky draws.

In addition, during certain peak travel periods, the platform is piloting ride-hailing peak-hour driver service fees and taxi holiday service fees to better meet peak vehicle demand and allow drivers to earn more order income.

As the weather gradually cools, short-distance urban cycling is also a common choice for holiday travel. DiDi Qingju has carried out special assurance for vehicle cleaning and maintenance, operations personnel replenishment, and supply-demand dispatch, establishing designated operations and maintenance at key areas, increasing manpower and vehicle capacity, and timely vehicle replenishment and dredging dispatch.
