Comprising four sites with a total installed capacity of 98 turbines and a submarine cable length reaching 393 kilometers, this project sets a new national record with its farthest point located 85.5 kilometers offshore.
Through independent innovation, Zhongtian Technology has solidified the technological foundation for submarine cables. As the core supporting unit, the company oversaw the entire construction process, supplying a complete set of submarine cables and accessories while undertaking the full-scope engineering of cable laying and turbine installation. From China's first three-core 110kV and three-core 220kV AC submarine cables, to the world's highest voltage level 500kV AC submarine cable, to Asia's first flexible DC offshore wind project with ±400kV DC cables, and further to the world's first large-scale integrated offshore-onshore ultra-high voltage flexible DC transmission project, the ±500kV Yangjiang Sanshan Island offshore wind project, Zhongtian Technology has dedicated nearly three decades to the R&D and manufacturing of submarine cables, providing robust technical support for the high-quality development of China's offshore wind industry.
The project team demonstrated formidable speed in overcoming the challenges of deep-sea construction. Facing what was considered a "construction no-go zone" characterized by complex sea conditions, extremely short operational windows, and harsh working environments—all rare in domestic projects—the team was driven by a dual focus on technological and management innovation. They innovatively applied "ultra-shallow water specialized construction techniques" and a "high-precision dynamic window prediction management system" to successfully tackle the construction难题 of the shallowest turbine location (-1.8 meters relative to the '85高程' datum). During the period of the year's strongest tides, the daily effective working window was compressed to just about 4 hours. Through unprecedented meticulous management and resource coordination, the team not only ensured project safety but also achieved an astonishing construction pace: safely and efficiently completing the installation of all 98 turbines in under 6 months, with the fastest single turbine installation cycle controlled within 40 hours, significantly contributing to the project achieving full-capacity grid connection within 10 months and setting a new "Zhongtian Speed" benchmark for deep-sea wind power engineering.
Behind this remarkable "speed" lies an unwavering commitment to "quality." In the landmark task of installing the largest-capacity 13.6 MW turbine in Jiangsu waters (with a hub height of 142 meters), the project team demonstrated millimeter-level precision lifting control and a comprehensive safety assurance system, successfully completing this highly complex operation. This achievement is not merely a victory of efficiency but a concentrated reflection of Zhongtian Technology's profound engineering expertise and mature quality control system.
In overcoming difficulties to establish a deep-sea energy artery during the critical cable laying phase, Zhongtian Technology's Shanghai Yuanwei project team also faced severe tests. The engineering area was characterized by dense shoals and rapid currents, with a one-way voyage to the farthest site taking nearly 7 hours. Utilizing multi-beam detection and precise shoal terrain analysis, the project team planned an optimal construction route, innovatively adopting techniques like "floating transportation detours and DP+anchor cable laying" to successfully navigate complex hydrological risks and resolve construction challenges. Relying on its self-developed "Dynamic Precision Control" system, the team scientifically scheduled construction sequences, accurately capturing every brief operational window to maximize efficiency. They completed the laying of all 198 km of 220kV cables and 194 km of 35kV cables in less than half a year, ensuring the full connection of the deep-sea "green energy artery."
From coping with frequent severe weather to conquering a series of global challenges such as construction in extensive ultra-shallow waters and long-distance cable laying in complex sea areas, Zhongtian Technology transformed each obstacle into an opportunity for technological breakthrough, defining the "Zhongtian Standard" for efficient and high-quality construction in deep-sea wind power through practical results. The project department's outstanding performance earned high praise from the project owner, the Three Gorges Group. Upon the project's full-capacity grid connection, the owner specially presented a commendatory banner and letter, lauding Zhongtian Technology for its "efficient contract fulfillment through exceptional professional competence and a hard-working spirit," and fully affirming the company's "corporate strength and sense of responsibility" demonstrated in "ensuring progress and adhering to quality" under extremely complex conditions.
After achieving full-capacity grid connection, the project is expected to generate over 2.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, sufficient to meet the yearly electricity needs of approximately 1.4 million households, providing crucial support for energy security and the green transition in the Yangtze River Delta region.
