Viasat (VSAT) shares tumbled 9.46% in after-hours trading on Tuesday, following the release of the company's fiscal first-quarter 2027 financial results. The sharp decline wiped out gains from the preceding sessions, as investors reacted to a disappointing top-line performance.
The sell-off was triggered by a revenue miss. Viasat reported quarterly revenue of $1.157 billion, falling short of the analyst consensus estimate of $1.200 billion and marking a 1.20% year-over-year decline from $1.171 billion in the same period last year. While adjusted earnings per share of $0.17 beat expectations, the revenue shortfall dominated sentiment, driving a wave of profit-taking after the stock had rallied sharply ahead of the earnings release on optimism surrounding the valuation of the company's wireless spectrum assets.
