MMG Limited (MMG) has pushed back the long-stop date for its planned acquisition of Anglo American’s Brazilian nickel business to 31 December 2026, according to a voluntary announcement filed on 3 November 2026. The previous deadline under the share purchase agreement was 31 October 2026; either party may now exercise termination rights after the new date if closing conditions remain unmet.
All required conditions precedent have been fulfilled except for European Union merger-control clearance. The European Commission has escalated its investigation to a Phase II review, extending its deadline to reach a decision to 21 December 2026. Regulatory filings with China’s National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce have already been accepted.
MMG stated it will continue working with Anglo American and the European Commission to secure approval. The company’s board currently comprises nine directors, including Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Zhao Jing Ivo and fellow Executive Director Qian Song.
