Hang Seng Indexes Company Unveils Eight New Benchmarks Spanning Technology, Semiconductors, Advanced Hardware, and Computing Power

On September 23, the Hang Seng Indexes Company introduced eight new indices. These are the Hang Seng Tech Composite Index, the Hang Seng Tech Composite Large-Cap Index, the Hang Seng Tech Composite Small-MidCap Index, the Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Index, the Hang Seng Hard Technology Index, the Hang Seng Computing Power Thematic Index, the Hang Seng Stock Connect Computing Power Thematic Index, and the Hang Seng A-Share Semiconductor Materials Thematic Index. The new benchmarks are calculated and published in real time every two seconds.

Here is a closer look at each one: The Hang Seng Tech Composite Index aims to provide a metric for measuring the overall performance of technology companies in the Hong Kong stock market. The Hang Seng Tech Composite Large-Cap Index mirrors the overall performance of large-cap technology firms listed in Hong Kong.

The Hang Seng Tech Composite Small-MidCap Index reflects the overall performance of small- and mid-cap tech companies in the Hong Kong stock market. The Hang Seng Semiconductor Industry Index captures the overall performance of Hong Kong-listed companies primarily engaged in the semiconductor value chain, including the design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, integrated solutions, and application of semiconductors and chips.

The Hang Seng Hard Technology Index tracks the overall performance of Hong Kong-listed companies that primarily operate in hard technology sectors, covering semiconductors, artificial intelligence, electronic devices, new energy equipment, and other advanced manufacturing industries. The Hang Seng Computing Power Thematic Index measures the performance of Hong Kong-listed companies whose businesses are related to computing power themes.

The Hang Seng Stock Connect Computing Power Thematic Index reflects the performance of Hong Kong-listed companies that are accessible for trading via Stock Connect and whose businesses align with the computing power theme. The Hang Seng A-Share Semiconductor Materials Thematic Index mirrors the performance of Mainland-listed companies whose operations are related to semiconductor materials and their applications.
