On the afternoon of June 23, a significant number of users raised concerns about WPS Office's default setting, which forces temporary files and cloud backup data to be written to the C drive, leading to substantial system disk usage and severe computer slowdowns.
Many users have objected to the fact that the basic function of "batch clearing cache" requires a paid membership.
In response to this issue, Beijing Kingsoft Office Software,Inc. has stated that a special task force has been established to investigate the matter.
According to the solutions provided by the company, the following operations are free and do not require a membership subscription after the C drive has been occupied:
First, users can change the storage location. Within the WPS Cloud Drive function settings and the "File - Backup & Recovery - Backup Center" settings, the save location for cache and backups can be modified to another disk.
Second, users can manually clear local cache and backups. This operation can be performed by users themselves, and clearing local copies will not affect files already saved in the cloud. During the installation of WPS, users also have the option to customize the installation path.
