The list of 100 teachers selected for the 2025 Ma Yun "Rural Teacher Program" has been recently announced, with three outstanding rural educators from Yunnan province making the cut. The "Rural Teacher Program" was the first public welfare initiative launched by the Ma Yun Foundation after its establishment, and to date, it has supported 1,101 rural teachers.
For each cohort of 100 rural teachers admitted into the program, the Ma Yun Foundation provides each individual with a total grant of 100,000 yuan over three years. This funding aims to improve their personal lives, connect them with professional development opportunities, and help them enhance their educational passion and wisdom, develop their professional and practical teaching skills, and play a positive leadership role.
Since the inaugural Ma Yun Rural Teacher Award in 2015, the Spring City Evening News has participated in the selection process as the sole cooperating media outlet in Yunnan province. Over the past 11 years, in collaboration with the Ma Yun Public Welfare Foundation, the newspaper has helped operate the "Rural Teacher Program," leading to the selection and support of 12 rural school principals, 90 rural teachers, and 5 teacher-training graduates dedicated to rural education.
The initiative has also completed upgrades for two rural boarding schools, injecting strength and vitality into rural education in Yunnan. The list of Yunnan teachers selected for the 2025 Ma Yun "Rural Teacher Program" includes Wang Ying from Tianpeng Town Central Primary School in Funing County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture; Ming Luqin from Jiangdong Township Central Primary School in Mang City, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture; and Fan Cheng from Tongguan Town Primary School in Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Pu'er City.
