There have been numerous management adjustments recently within both the headquarters departments and branch offices of Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited (ASX: 600015).
In May, following the resignation of the bank's Chief Compliance Officer, Yang Hong, who subsequently transferred to become the President of the Hong Kong Branch, the position of Chief Compliance Officer became vacant.
Information has been disclosed that Yan Jiongzhi, the former President of Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited's Hangzhou Branch, will be promoted to the role of Chief Compliance Officer at the headquarters, marking a recognition of his managerial capabilities.
Records show that in April 2026, Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited's Hangzhou Branch underwent significant adjustments. The person in charge of the branch changed from Yan Jiongzhi to Xu Haoguang, with the liaison officer also changing from Zhuang Jia to Gu Dandan, and the financial controller changing from Xie Min to Liu Jun.
Prior to this, Yan Jiongzhi had led the Hangzhou Branch for seven years, a period of considerable stability. In 2019, the branch had 61 offices, 1,927 employees, and total assets of approximately 155.52 billion yuan.
By 2025, the number of offices had decreased to 58 and staff to 1,645, yet the asset scale grew significantly to 262.852 billion yuan.
During Yan Jiongzhi's tenure, despite a reduction in both staff and office numbers, the Hangzhou Branch's assets successfully crossed the 200-billion-yuan threshold, and its importance within the group has continued to rise.
Branch Establishment and Regional Context
The Hangzhou Branch was established in June 1995 as the bank's second branch outside its home base, following the Nanjing Branch. The Nanjing Branch is the bank's largest in the Yangtze River Delta region.
By the end of 2025, the Nanjing Branch's assets stood at 291.65 billion yuan, a 6.59% increase from 273.607 billion yuan the previous year. In comparison, the Hangzhou Branch's assets grew by 8.30% in 2025, a higher rate, narrowing the asset gap between the two key branches.
This healthy competition between the two most important branches in the Yangtze River Delta is viewed positively.
Regional Performance Overview
The entire Yangtze River Delta region is becoming a crucial growth engine for Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited. By the end of 2025, the bank's total loans reached 2.56 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.47% year-on-year.
In terms of both total volume and growth rate, the Yangtze River Delta region ranked first among all the bank's operational areas. The loan balance in this region was 802.743 billion yuan, accounting for 31.28% of the total, with a growth rate of 10.49%, up 0.58 percentage points from the end of the previous year.
Regarding asset quality, the Yangtze River Delta region performed relatively well. The non-performing loan ratio for the region was 0.88% at the end of 2025. Although this represented a slight increase from 0.66% in 2024, it remained at a comparatively low level group-wide.
However, profit growth in the Yangtze River Delta region is under pressure. In 2025, the region generated operating income of 19.888 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.97%, but operating profit was 10.148 billion yuan, a decrease of 10.54% year-on-year.
There remains a gap in profit scale compared to the bank's Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
New Leadership and Future Challenges
Branches across the Yangtze River Delta are successively adjusting their management teams to enhance managerial effectiveness. Xu Haoguang, who is taking over the Hangzhou Branch, faces significant pressure.
Xu Haoguang previously worked at the Hangzhou Branch. In January 2020, regulatory approval was granted for his appointment as Deputy President of Hua Xia Bank Co.,Limited's Hangzhou Branch.
However, by November 2021, he had begun working at the Taiyuan Branch, and his appointment as President of the Taiyuan Branch received regulatory approval in March 2022.
