On October 17, the management committee of the Chixi District in the Changbai Mountain region officially signed a framework investment promotion agreement for the Changbai Mountain Zoo and Botanical Garden Project with Shandong Zhengda Real Estate Group Co., Ltd. This marks a significant step forward for the project, which has a total investment of approximately 850 million yuan and is formally located in the Chixi District. The implementation of this project will effectively fill the gap of large comprehensive zoos and botanical gardens in the Changbai Mountain area and serve as a crucial support for upgrading the regional cultural and tourism industry. It aims to guide ecological tourism from being "sightseeing-oriented" to "science education and experience-oriented," injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of ecological tourism in Changbai Mountain.
The Changbai Mountain Zoo and Botanical Garden Project is situated in the area east of Yuehua Street, west and south of National Highway G504, and north of Tianchi Avenue, covering a planned area of approximately 89 hectares. The project will create a modern zoo and botanical garden that integrates ecological display, science education, and leisure experience, establishing a new ecological cultural tourism landmark with demonstrative significance in Northeast China.
Construction will revolve around three core concepts: "ecological protection + science education + immersive experience." The plan includes four functional sections: a pedestrian zone, a vehicular zone, an animal conservation area, and a comprehensive service area. The pedestrian zone will feature eco-friendly animal exhibits equipped with a science explanation system and resting areas for visitors, creating a close-up, low-interference viewing environment. The vehicular zone will have a one-way sightseeing route that simulates natural habitats of wild animals, providing an immersive viewing experience while ensuring the availability of emergency evacuation facilities.
The animal conservation area will include quarantine facilities, an animal hospital, and a feed processing room to ensure the health and safety of the animals entering the park. All animals will be sourced from qualified breeding bases and will undergo strict isolation, quarantine, and health assessments before entering the zoo. The comprehensive service area will provide visitor centers, science museums, dining, and retail outlets to enhance the overall visitor experience.
The introduction of the zoo and botanical garden is a significant initiative by the management committee of Chixi District to implement the concept of green development and promote the transformation of ecological resource advantages. The establishment of the Changbai Mountain Zoo and Botanical Garden will not only enrich the tourism product system of Changbai Mountain, enhancing visitor stay duration and expenditure, but also strengthen public awareness of biodiversity conservation through its science education function, contributing to the construction of ecological civilization.
