Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino said on Friday that the central bank is currently at a stage of closely monitoring the risks of economic slowdown and rising inflation if the situation in the Middle East escalates over the long term.
In response to questions in parliament, Himino stated that he does not believe Japan is currently in a state of stagflation.
He noted that the Bank of Japan will make appropriate policy decisions at each meeting by assessing the impact of the Middle East conflict alongside existing data and information.
