The People's Bank of China (PBOC) announced that it will issue a set of gold and silver commemorative coins on November 11, 2025, marking the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema. The set consists of three coins, including two gold coins and one silver coin, all of which are legal tender of the People's Republic of China.
1. Coin Designs (1) Obverse Design The obverse side of all coins features the national emblem of China, along with the country name and year of issue.
(2) Reverse Designs - The 150g round gold coin’s reverse design incorporates film reels, mountain peaks, digital micro-mirror and streaming symbols, and the number "120," inscribed with "中国电影诞生一百二十周年" (The 120th Anniversary of the Birth of Chinese Cinema) in Chinese and English, as well as the face value. - The 3g round gold coin’s reverse design showcases a decorative film reel motif and the number "120," inscribed with the same bilingual commemorative text and face value. - The 30g round silver coin’s reverse design features a decorative film projector, light beams, and the number "120," also inscribed with the bilingual text and face value.
2. Specifications and Mintage - The 150g gold coin is a proof coin containing 150g of pure gold, with a diameter of 60mm, a face value of 2,000 yuan, 99.9% purity, and a maximum mintage of 300 pieces. - The 3g gold coin contains 3g of pure gold, measures 18mm in diameter, has a face value of 50 yuan, 99.9% purity, and a maximum mintage of 20,000 pieces. - The 30g silver coin contains 30g of pure silver, measures 40mm in diameter, has a face value of 10 yuan, 99.9% purity, and a maximum mintage of 30,000 pieces.
3. Minting and Distribution The coins are minted by Shenyang Mint Co., Ltd., Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd., with China Gold Coin Group Corporation as the sole distributor.
