On Wednesday, General Motors announced it will commit an additional 3.5 billion Brazilian reais (approximately $674.88 million) in Brazil, boosting its investment in the country's automotive sector by 50% and supporting hybrid vehicle production and plant modernization.

In a statement, General Motors indicated that this new capital, combined with a previously announced 7 billion reais investment for 2024, will bring the company's total investment plan in Brazil to 10.5 billion reais by 2028.

The funds will be primarily allocated to the company's operations in São Paulo state, which is Brazil's most populous and wealthiest state.

The investment will also support the renewal of the Chevrolet product portfolio, the application of new technologies including hybrid models, plant modernization, and enhancements to engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

General Motors stated that this investment will also contribute to the creation of high-quality jobs and strengthen the competitiveness of Brazil's automotive industry.
