On November 5, the "People's Car" Aion UT Super No. 1, jointly launched by JD.com, GAC Group, and CATL, officially rolled off the production line. This marks the first public showcase of the vehicle's exterior design, manufacturing process, battery technology, and battery swap procedure. With the Aion UT Super now in production, pre-sales and test drives commenced on the same day, with an official launch scheduled for November 9.
At a briefing, a CATL executive outlined the company's two-phase strategy for its battery swap business: "Our battery swap operations will advance in two stages—first targeting the B2B market, followed by expansion into B2C. For swap services, B2B currently represents a mature market with clear demand, while B2C is a critical phase for gathering consumer feedback and building brand awareness."
The executive added, "For the B2C segment, we offer multiple flexible battery swap packages to meet diverse user needs."
CATL also revealed its ambitious expansion plans: "This year, we aim to build 1,000 'Chocolate' battery swap stations, with nearly 700 already completed by October, covering two-thirds of Chinese cities—ensuring users find a station within 10 km. By 2030, we target 10,000–20,000 stations, ultimately planning 30,000 stations to make battery swaps as convenient as refueling."
