Bank of China reported solid first-half 2026 results, underpinned by stronger net interest income and disciplined cost control.
Financial Performance • Operating income reached RMB 357.11 billion, up 8.41% year on year, driven by a 10.20% rise in net interest income to RMB 236.73 billion and a 5.04% increase in non-interest income to RMB 120.38 billion.
• Profit for the period grew 4.67% to RMB 132.03 billion; profit attributable to equity holders advanced 5.10% to RMB 123.59 billion.
• Return on average assets stood at 0.67%, while return on average equity was 8.66%. Net interest margin widened by 1 basis point to 1.27%. The cost-to-income ratio improved 1.68 ppts to 23.43%.
Balance-sheet Highlights • Total assets expanded 4.77% since end-2025 to RMB 40.19 trillion; total liabilities increased 5.11% to RMB 36.95 trillion.
• Gross loans and advances rose 5.49% to RMB 24.74 trillion; customer deposits were up 2.46% to RMB 26.83 trillion.
• Asset quality remained stable: non-performing loan ratio edged down 1 bp to 1.22%, while the allowance coverage ratio improved to 200.85%.
Capital & Liquidity • Common Equity Tier 1 ratio was 12.04%; Tier 1 ratio 13.65%; total capital adequacy ratio 18.31%.
• The liquidity coverage ratio and leverage ratio were 157.03% and 7.23%, respectively, both above regulatory minima.
Cash Flow & Dividends • Operating activities generated net cash inflow of RMB 515.80 billion.
• The Board recommended an interim cash dividend of RMB 1.190 per 10 shares (before tax), following a 2025 final dividend of RMB 1.169 per 10 shares paid in July.
