The Pentagon Inspector General has turned down a bipartisan request from lawmakers to investigate recent disruptions to Ukraine's Starlink and Starshield satellite internet services, according to reports.
This decision has sparked concerns among lawmakers who worry that neither the military nor its independent watchdog is willing to confront the influence of SpaceX CEO Elon Musk over defense communications.
Earlier this month, Ukrainian officials reported that connection speeds for the Starlink service, created by Musk, and its military version, Starshield, had been restricted.
Following this, a bipartisan group of senators called on the Pentagon Inspector General to launch an investigation.
These satellite networks are critical for Ukraine's wartime communications, and Ukrainian officials have stated that the restrictions have hampered their ability to intercept fast-moving Russian attack drones.
