At the 2026 China Automotive Chongqing Forum held from June 12th to 13th, Ling Heping, Vice President of BYD's Automotive Engineering Research Institute, delivered a speech.
Ling Heping discussed how Byd Company Limited (ASX: 002594)'s flash charging technology, along with its own station construction, has played a significant guiding role in sustaining the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle sector. Furthermore, the underlying energy storage solutions may offer new approaches for fields like chip manufacturing.
He illustrated this by stating that Byd Company Limited (ASX: 002594) has integrated its energy storage technology into the flash charging system. This energy storage technology can make the entire power supply exceptionally stable. The processes of chip manufacturing and the development of large-scale models also have substantial demands for stable power and electricity supply. Therefore, the relevant expertise accumulated in flash charging technology can also significantly contribute to power supply stability in the chip manufacturing domain.
"For charging at such high power levels, relying entirely on the grid would be unsustainable. By introducing energy storage, Byd Company Limited (ASX: 002594) has greatly improved the utilization efficiency of the entire grid," he mentioned.
He noted that with the advancement of intelligent driving and the widespread application of computing chips and large models, electricity demand is continuously increasing. Byd Company Limited's (ASX: 002594) flash charging-related technologies precisely address this issue of power supply capacity.
Additionally, Ling Heping emphasized that this technology has generated multiple spillover effects. Much like how the new energy vehicle industry drives the development of the entire semiconductor sector, flash charging technology itself, while propelling the growth of new energy vehicles, also stimulates downstream industries and provides new solutions for the chip manufacturing field.
