Gu'an: Blending Wholesale Sourcing with Cultural Tourism to Create a New Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Commercial Hub

Deep News08-03

A recent investment promotion event for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Haining Leather City was held at Gu'an Yongding City. Representatives from leading industry merchants in Haining, Zhejiang, along with delegates from the Haining Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce, source factories, and top brand manufacturers, gathered in Gu'an for site inspections and discussions on coordinated industrial development planning.

It was announced that Haining China Leather City and Gu'an Yongding City formally signed a deep strategic cooperation agreement on July 15. This promotion conference is the first large-scale implementation activity following the signing, aimed at accelerating the settlement of high-quality merchants and jointly creating the first high-end fur professional market in the capital metropolitan area. Leveraging Gu'an Yongding City's mature commercial platform and the advantage of over 300 national wholesale sourcing routes, the project will fully introduce Haining's source factory supplies and original design resources, comprehensively covering all categories of leather and fur products. This will establish a vertical integration business model where goods move directly from the source manufacturer to the end market.

At the promotion conference, several high-quality merchants signed on-site, expressing their intention to join. "We are the first Haining fur merchant to settle in Gu'an Yongding City, and we hope our sales volume can achieve new breakthroughs," said Xie Jun, a merchant from Haining Leather City. This event represents not only a complementary exchange of high-quality commercial resources between the north and south but is also expected to strongly drive the development of supporting industries such as logistics, warehousing, and e-commerce. This will boost the development of Gu'an County's modern commercial logistics industry and inject strong momentum into the county's high-quality economic growth.

As the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region advances deeper, relying on the agglomeration advantages of source factories and the new "wholesale sourcing + cultural tourism" model, Gu'an Yongding City is rapidly rising. It is not only becoming a significant pole in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei professional wholesale sourcing market but also driving continuous growth in cross-regional short-distance consumer spending.

At 8 a.m., stalls in Gu'an Yongding City began opening one after another. Xue Xiaowei, a merchant who relocated from Beijing, was counting new summer stock. Xue was previously a merchant at Beijing's old "Dongpi" (animal fur) market. At the end of 2021, she followed the industrial relocation policy and moved to Gu'an Yongding City, becoming one of the first batch of merchants to settle there. Initially, she worried about losing regular customers, but the support policies introduced by Gu'an Yongding City significantly eased her burden. Now, she rents two shops with a total operating area exceeding 500 square meters, and her annual sales volume exceeds 200,000 pieces. "We now have two large stores. In Gu'an, the cost of living is lower than before, and the quality of life has improved considerably," Xue said.

As a key commercial platform for undertaking the relocation of non-capital functions from Beijing, Gu'an Yongding City has now gathered over 4,000 mature merchants from former Beijing Dahongmen and the old "Dongpi" market areas. Their product categories cover clothing, shoes, bags, and general merchandise, forming a complete garment sourcing supply chain. Gu'an Yongding City has deeply cultivated the direct-source factory operation model. The advantages of first-hand goods, combined with low-cost operations and a continuously optimized three-dimensional distribution network, have created a clear development edge in wholesale sourcing.

"I come from Beijing, basically every ten days or half a month. The goods here have new styles, large volumes, and fast replenishment. They sell really well in my area. Now, I can get everything I need in one stop at Gu'an," said Tao Qian, a wholesale sourcing buyer. Adapting to new demands, Gu'an Yongding City is continuously optimizing its business layout. It was reported that the morning market local women's clothing zone began a trial operation in mid-June, focusing on direct sourcing and combining wholesale with retail. This flexible business model has attracted many merchants, including Xiao Jianbo, who ran a clothing wholesale business at the Beijing Dahongmen morning market for over 20 years. "I confirmed settling in the morning market local women's clothing zone in May. Since the trial operation started in June, customer traffic and sales have far exceeded expectations. Next, I will directly connect with source factories to replenish stock, operate both online and offline, and collaborate with neighboring merchants for collective development. Using the Gu'an Yongding City commercial platform, I aim to grow my women's clothing wholesale business," Xiao said.

Attracting merchants is only part of the challenge; retaining them is equally important. Gu'an Yongding City is making continuous efforts to empower business operations, regularly organizing training to help merchants expand their customer channels. At the same time, it coordinates all-chain services, including holiday promotions and logistics support, to reduce merchants' operating costs. "We consistently adhere to the development strategy of stabilizing wholesale and invigorating retail. We continue to undertake high-quality industrial resources from Beijing, cultivate distinctive niche business segments, and constantly improve market facilities and upgrade our service system," said Zhang Zhenyu, Deputy General Manager of Gu'an Yongding City.

The commercial agglomeration effect continues to release, while cultural tourism consumption vitality is simultaneously being stimulated. Big Lake Park, Bicycle Park, the Yongding River Cultural Temple Fair, Nan Guan Night Market, and local delicacies like smoked pigeon are now drawing more and more consumers from Beijing and Tianjin to include Gu'an Yongding City in their weekend plans. "The drive from Beijing is very short and convenient. The clothes here have great variety and are reasonably priced. I can buy everything in one go. After shopping, we take a stroll around Gu'an, visit Big Lake Park, enjoy some local snacks, and buy some local specialties. We're really happy," said Ms. Wang, a consumer.

Complete urban infrastructure and high-quality cultural tourism resources provide a solid foundation for the deep integration of business and travel. Based on the new development trends, Gu'an Yongding City is continuously strengthening its service chain and enriching consumer scenarios, striving to promote the mutual empowerment and coordinated development of the commercial industry and cultural tourism consumption. "We will continue to deeply cultivate the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei commercial market, constantly improve our business layout, upgrade supporting services, and deepen the business-tourism integration model. We aim to build Gu'an Yongding City into a leading comprehensive northern garment sourcing and distribution base, making it an important platform for driving industrial upgrading, activating regional consumption, and supporting the high-quality development of the county economy," Zhang Zhenyu said.
