GAC Group Demonstrates State-Owned Enterprise Responsibility, Safeguarding Children Through Technology and Commitment

Deep News06-22

Every year, June 17th marks the China Children's Charity Day, an initiative aimed at uniting social forces to focus on the growth and well-being of children. Addressing the diverse needs for child safety and development in family travel scenarios, GAC Group focuses on two key dimensions: "technological protection" and "public welfare support." The company leverages robust technology to build a safety net for children during mobility and uses responsible practices to safeguard every stage of their growth journey. This vividly exemplifies GAC's commitment to "technology with a heart" and stands as the most powerful response from a state-owned automaker to the call of "serving and giving back to society."

For many parents, self-driving trips with children come with significant concerns. Questions arise: Will children in the back seat be adequately protected in a collision? Will frequent manual adjustments of in-car devices distract the driver when a baby falls asleep? Can doors be opened smoothly for escape in the event of an accident? Deeply understanding these parental anxieties, GAC relies on three core technologies—the Starship Body, Galaxy Intelligent Cockpit, and Xingling EEA 4.0 (Electronic and Electrical Architecture 4.0)—to establish a multi-layered, progressive safety protection network specifically for children, covering the entire journey from boarding to driving and emergency situations.

When boarding, the GAC Starship Body establishes the first line of safety. The vehicle employs a 5-longitudinal, 13-transverse high-strength steel mesh underbody protective frame. Key areas utilize 2000MPa-grade hot-formed steel, capable of withstanding 20 tons of pressure on an area the size of a fingernail. The hidden A-pillar anti-rollover frame uses 2200MPa hot gas expansion tube beams, giving the roof a crush resistance 2.7 times the national standard. In the event of urban collisions or outdoor rollovers, the body structure can quickly disperse impact forces, preserving a sufficient and intact survival space for children in the rear seats, fundamentally reducing the risk of injury from the vehicle body itself.

During travel, the GAC Galaxy Intelligent Cockpit acts as a considerate "travel assistant." Its multi-modal perception engine accurately identifies the status of children in the back seat. Coordinated with a memory-based multi-agent collaborative engine and an emotional expression engine, a simple command like "the child is asleep" can trigger actions such as dimming lights, lowering volume, and adjusting air conditioning temperature, allowing the child to sleep peacefully in a comfortable environment.

The GAC Xingling Electronic and Electrical Architecture 4.0 provides continuous, underlying safety protection. Its high-speed neural network can pre-identify speed bumps and potholes, proactively suppressing body sway to reduce discomfort from bumps for child passengers. Addressing the critical issue of escape in accidents, GAC has developed a five-layer redundancy solution. Even in severe collisions, doors can unlock instantly, securing a vital escape route for children and their families inside the vehicle.

Beyond using vehicle technology to fortify family travel safety, GAC Group extends its safety concerns to schools and rural areas. Through regular public welfare science education projects, the company brings professional road safety knowledge to more children. GAC Group has long been dedicated to children's road safety education, fostering the rooting of traffic safety awareness in young minds. For instance, GAC Honda, in collaboration with the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, has launched the "Dream Journey Co-creation Classroom." This initiative has established 14 safety education bases across the country, entered 30 primary schools in Tianjin, reached over 6,000 students, and cumulatively benefited more than 30,000 teachers and students. Furthermore, GAC Honda created the dual-IP "Journey Hero × GG Bond," using immersive and fun interactive activities for science popularization, helping children easily grasp knowledge about car travel and road safety.

Similarly focused on rural safety education, the GAC Toyota "Driving Elf" CSR social education project has been running consistently for 12 years, with its mobile safety classroom reaching numerous rural schools in Anhui and Guizhou provinces. By 2025, the project had directly benefited over 13,000 children, with total offline participation exceeding 4 million person-times. From urban campuses to rural classrooms, GAC, through its long-term, grounded science education actions, fulfills its public welfare mission of "educating one child, influencing one family, and impacting the whole society."

In addition to travel safety education, GAC continuously implements multi-level educational support projects, balancing short-term financial aid with long-term talent cultivation, paving growth paths for students in rural and disadvantaged situations. GAC Group steadily advances the "GAC Education Dream Assistance Project," protecting youth development across multiple dimensions from financial support to talent nurturing. In 2025, this project provided aid to 153 students, disbursing scholarships totaling 195,000 RMB, alleviating the financial burden on diligent students pursuing their education.

Concurrently, GAC Group has supported the Guangzhou Charity Federation's "Love Bud Action" project for many years, with cumulative donations reaching 1.4 million RMB, benefiting over 289 children and adolescents, extending care to a broader group of children in need.

Beyond financial assistance, GAC places greater emphasis on "capacity-building" talent cultivation. The distinctive "GAC Class" in Bijie, Guizhou, adopts a model of high-quality education combined with modern apprenticeships for targeted talent development. It has enrolled 326 rural students cumulatively, with 132 already entering internships or employment within the GAC system, changing their destinies through professional skills. The Wuyang-Honda Party Committee consistently partners with rural primary schools, donating school supplies and providing subsidies to students in need, supporting young dreams with goodwill.

Safeguarding children's growth is never a one-time act but a long-term commitment integrated into GAC Group's corporate DNA. In 2025, GAC Group's total investment in public welfare undertakings reached 16,756,800 RMB. Behind this investment lies the tangible implementation of "GAC Love on the Journey." From incorporating child safety as a core consideration during product R&D, to insisting on a balanced approach of "blood transfusion" (aid) and "blood making" (capacity building) in public welfare projects, and to embedding ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) concepts throughout the entire corporate development chain, GAC Group is constructing a trinity child protection system encompassing "Technology - Public Welfare - Responsibility."

China Children's Charity Day is both a concentrated expression of compassion and a renewed departure point for long-term responsibility. Looking ahead, GAC Group will continue to deepen its commitment to child protection, using the practical power of "technology with a heart" to safeguard the nation's youth, injecting warm momentum into the healthy growth of children and the long-term development of society.
