THE following companies saw new developments that may affect trading of their securities on Tuesday (Feb 28):
UOL Group : The property and hospitality company announced on Monday a44 per cent fall in net profitto S$120.8 million for the second half of the year ended December 2022. However, full year earnings were still up 60 per cent to S$491.9 million. Its board proposed a first and final dividend of S$0.15 per ordinary share, along with a special cash dividend of S$0.03 per ordinary share. Shares of UOL ended at S$6.76, down 0.4 per cent or S$0.03 on Monday before the news.
Sembcorp Marine halted the trading of its shares, pending the release of announcements. The halt was called for at 8.19 am on Tuesday (Feb 28), before the market opened for trading.
The counter ended S$0.001 or 0.8 per cent lower at S$0.127 on Monday, before itreported a net loss of S$118.3 million for H2of FY2022 – significantly narrower than its S$523.3 million loss posted in the corresponding period a year before.
Palm oil company Golden Agri-Resource on Tuesday (Feb 28) reported earnings of US$392.4 million for the half year ended December 2022, up 21.5 per cent year on year from US$323 million.
Revenue for the half year rose 3.8 per cent to US$5.9 billion from US$5.7 billion previously, as higher contributions from the downstream segment (palm, laurics and others) more than offset a decline in revenue from upstream (plantations and palm oil mills).
Supermarket operator Sheng Siong Group on Monday (Feb 27) posted a net profit of S$65.9 million for the second half of 2022, down by 1.4 per cent from S$66.9 million for the same period in 2021.
For the full year, the group posted earnings of S$133.3 million, up 0.4 per cent from S$132.8 million in 2021.
The board of directors has proposed a final cash dividend of S$0.0307 per share, down from S$0.031 per share in 2021. Subject to shareholders’ approval at the annual general meeting on Apr 28, the dividend will be paid out on May 19.
Coal producer Golden Energy and Resources on Monday (Feb 27) reported earnings of US$432.6 million for the second half of 2022, a jump from US$85.2 million in the same period in 2021.
The stronger bottom line was due partly to an increase in revenue to US$3.2 billion from US$1.1 billion.
