DiDi Forecasts Over 80 Million Ride-Hailing Demands on December 31

Deep News2025-12-30

According to projections from DiDi Global Inc., ride-hailing demand in China on December 31 is expected to surpass 80 million trips.

The surge is attributed to the convergence of multiple travel needs, including the evening commute from work, New Year's Eve gatherings, holiday outings, and intercity travel for returning home. Consequently, the evening peak for ride-hailing on December 31 is anticipated to start earlier, beginning at 3:00 PM and lasting until 8:00 PM, with the highest demand occurring between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Furthermore, DiDi estimates that ride requests on January 1, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM will consistently exceed the levels seen on New Year's Day 2025, with a notable 18% year-on-year increase expected between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Travelers are reminded that expressway tolls will not be waived during the New Year holiday period; standard fees will apply for passenger vehicles with seven seats or fewer. It is advisable to plan journeys and transportation arrangements in advance.

For those requiring a ride, options such as the advance booking service or selecting multiple vehicle types for a quicker dispatch are recommended. Passengers using public transport like trains or planes should allocate ample time for their journeys and stay updated on weather conditions and travel service information.
