Stock News09:30

Korean stock ETFs opened sharply higher, with the leveraged product tied to Samsung Electronics surging more than 7% in early Hong Kong trading. The Southern CSOP Two Times Leveraged Samsung Electronics product (07747) climbed 7.18% to HKD 85.40, while the CSOP SK hynix Daily Leverage (Maximum 2X) product (07709) advanced 4.42% to HKD 44.38.

Market sentiment was buoyed by a strong opening for the Korean bourse on September 23, as both SK hynix and Samsung Electronics rose more than 3% at one point during the session. Supporting the rally, US Treasury yields and oil prices moved lower overnight, which helped lift American semiconductor and memory stocks broadly—SanDisk gained over 6%, Micron Technology added 5%, and SK hynix climbed more than 3%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index advanced over 2%, closing at its highest level since mid-July.

Analysts at CLSA noted that Korea holds a comprehensive end-to-end position across critical AI semiconductor processes, including AI memory, bonding, substrates, testing, and front-end handling. With structural Agentic AI demand and tight supply conditions providing support, the fundamentals of Korean enabler companies are improving and their market positioning is strengthening. The brokerage maintains a “highly confident outperform” rating on SK hynix, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and EO Technics.
