The second batch of Beijing AI application scenario benchmark schools was recently announced, with 50 universities, secondary and primary schools making the list. The Beijing Municipal Education Commission stated that it will guide schools to focus on core teaching scenarios, create replicable smart education models and mature products, explore new forms of future schools, and build a demonstration highland for "AI + education."
The 50 benchmark schools selected this time include 45 primary and secondary schools such as Dongcheng District Peixin Primary School and Beijing No. 4 High School, as well as 5 universities including Beijing Technology and Business University. Among them, the primary and secondary benchmark schools cover 16 districts and the Economic-Technological Development Area, committed to deepening typical applications of AI in curriculum reform, personalized student development, and other areas, fully leveraging their radiating and driving role.
For example, the Affiliated School of Luhe High School in Tongzhou District organically integrates AI knowledge into Chinese language, mathematics, science, labor, and information technology classes, guiding students to carry out interdisciplinary project-based learning such as "AI + classical poetry" and "AI + artistic creation." An AI experience corner has been set up on campus, where students can participate in science popularization experiences and short lectures during breaks through interactive large screens, bringing AI out of dedicated classrooms and into daily campus life. At Tsinghua University High School, teachers and students learn AI, use AI, and create AI through the "AI Cloud School" platform, achieving co-creation and sharing of smart education resources. The platform integrates interactive learning, heuristic exercises, personalized evaluation, and other functions, building a teaching material library, course video library, exercise and exam paper library, and intelligent agent library, empowering the school's entire process of "teaching, educating, learning, researching, evaluating, and managing." The school has also built a smart sports corridor, equipping students with exclusive AI coaches. When students participate in standing long jump, rope skipping, sit-ups, and other sports activities, they can see their movement errors in real time, generate personalized diagnostic data, and choose smart bikes, rowing machines, and other fun equipment for independent exercise based on the data. Teachers can precisely adjust classroom design by comparing student physical fitness data through the system.
University benchmark schools focus on AI empowering professional development and interdisciplinary innovation. For example, Beijing Film Academy, relying on the Beijing Future Visual Imaging Advanced Innovation Center, has established the AI Imaging Science and Art Center, the Science and Art Research Institute, and the Intelligent Imaging Engineering College, offering the "Future Imaging Studies" interdisciplinary discipline and the AI Imaging Creation Excellent Training Experimental Class; it has also built joint laboratories with technology enterprises to conduct in-depth research on AIGC (AI-generated content) and virtual production, aiming to cultivate scientific artists and art engineers who understand both artistic expression and algorithmic logic.
The Municipal Education Commission introduced that currently, more than 1,400 primary and secondary schools and 1.83 million students in the city have achieved full coverage of AI general education courses, and the AI application coverage rate among primary and secondary school students has reached 91%. The city will rely on the National AI Basic Education Application Pilot Base to deepen AI-empowered teaching pilots, promoting deep integration of AI into all elements, processes, and scenarios of education and teaching; continuously cultivate the "Jingwa" series of intelligent agents to improve the level of open, inclusive education and tailored instruction; and build the "Capital Education New Map," promoting AI application supermarkets and innovation communities, allowing more "AI + education" achievements to spread from Beijing to the whole country.
