Consumer Goods Replacement Initiative Fuels Market Growth with Tangible Benefits for Households

Deep News03-31

This year, the consumer goods replacement policy in Xinjiang has continued to unleash its benefits, sparking a surge in replacements for home appliances, automobiles, and digital products. By March 26, the commerce sector in Xinjiang had received applications for subsidies covering 587,900 units, cumulatively driving consumption worth 4.334 billion yuan.

Over the weekend, Borde Guoqing, a resident of Aksu, visited a nearby 4S store intending to purchase a new car for his family. "With the state subsidy of over 10,000 yuan, the final price is only around 150,000 yuan. This is truly a policy that benefits the people," he said.

The tangible subsidy benefits have allowed the public to experience real savings, continuously heating up the consumer market.

Wang Liping, store manager at Urumqi Hualing Store of a Xinjiang trading company, stated, "On top of the replacement policy, we are offering additional subsidies, bringing the comprehensive subsidy rate to 40%. Our overall sales have increased by more than 50% compared to the same period last year, and replacement orders now account for over 90% of our sales."

To ensure the policy benefits are delivered quickly and directly, Xinjiang has fully implemented a model of "online voucher collection, offline verification, and instant discounts." Consumers can complete the entire process—including eligibility verification, subsidy application, and product purchase—in one stop at the store, making it convenient and hassle-free.

In Xi'an, Shaanxi, a special event for replacing old home appliances has been launched, offering multiple layers of subsidies. Recently, commerce departments in Xi'an collaborated with major home appliance brands to organize a large-scale home appliance replacement event. The event combines subsidies from the state, platforms, and manufacturers to further unleash consumption potential for home appliances.

The event gathered 25 home appliance brands, offering over 600 product models covering various categories such as refrigerators, televisions, and washing machines, providing consumers with a wide range of choices.

During the event, consumers purchasing designated products like refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners can enjoy a 15% state subsidy, with a limit of one item per category and a maximum subsidy of 1,500 yuan per item. On-site platform subsidies and manufacturer discounts can be stacked, offering even greater savings.

It is reported that Xi'an's consumer goods replacement initiative will continue until December 31, 2026. In addition to participating in the event offline, consumers can also obtain vouchers for home appliances, digital, and smart products on online platforms.
