Building on its mountainous terrain, Huangguan Village in Niuchang Township, Baiyun District, Guiyang City, has developed a specialized industry focused on cultivating a distinctive type of plum.
The core planting area for Huangguan Village's Golden Nai Plums spans over 450 acres, with individual fruits of excellent quality, forming a highly recognizable specialty agricultural product.
Currently, the collaborative efforts between Huangguan Village and the Qishan Village plum cultivation area are yielding significant industrial results. The total summer plum production can reach 200,000 jin, with an overall output value exceeding 3 million yuan, boosting the average annual income for local farming households by over 15,000 yuan.
Shu Yongzhen, a staff member from Huangguan Village, Baiyun District, Guiyang City, stated: Our Huangguan Village Golden Plums are grown without harmful chemicals; they are crisp and sweet. We welcome everyone to come and taste them! These plums typically ripen around August, turning yellow when mature. Bagging the fruit serves to prevent pests. Additionally, bagging is what allows the fruit to develop its yellow color.
Every year, we provide 31 temporary job positions for villagers, with each household generating approximately 10,000 yuan in income. Last year, our total harvest was just over two tons. If this year sees mass production, the yield should reach over 100,000 tons.
September is when the Golden Plums are officially brought to market, and we plan to host a picking festival at that time. We hope to receive support from higher authorities.
