China Mobile Publishes 20th Sustainability Report: 5G Network Tops 2.77 Million Base Stations, Green Power Purchases Reach 55.20 Billion kWh

China Mobile released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing operational and ESG performance for the year ended 31 December 2025.

Financial Highlights • Operating revenue rose 0.90% year-on-year to RMB 1,050.20 billion. • Net profit came in at RMB 137.10 billion, while operating profit reached RMB 148.90 billion. • EBITDA margin stood at 32.30%.

Network & Customer Metrics • 5G base stations increased to 2.77 million, underpinning 96% nationwide population coverage. • 5G subscribers grew to 642 million; wireline broadband users exceeded 324 million. • The IoT card base expanded to 1.48 billion, supported by the world’s largest OneNET platform.

Digital Infrastructure & Computing • Intelligent computing power totalled 92.50 EFLOPS (FP16). • The “Computing Network Brain 3.0” and two national-level intelligent computing training centres are in service. • International transmission bandwidth more than doubled to 406 Tbps.

R&D and Innovation • R&D investment rose to RMB 37.40 billion, with valid patents surpassing 20,514. • Proprietary “Jiutian” AI large-model family completed trillion-parameter MoE training; users of Lingxi AI assistant exceeded 100 million.

Environmental Performance • Green power purchases totalled 55.20 billion kWh, cutting 10.87 million tons of CO₂e. • Company-wide energy-consumption intensity declined 5.60% and carbon-emission intensity fell 6.60% year-on-year. • 15.00 billion kWh of electricity was saved in 2025, bringing cumulative savings under the “C² Three-Energy Plan” to 46.30 billion kWh. • Average PUE of 55 large and ultra-large data centres improved to 1.285.

Social & Governance • Overall customer satisfaction reached 83.45 points; first-call resolution via hotline improved to 97.96%. • Employee headcount was 461,345, with women representing 51.51% of the workforce. • The Board set up a Sustainability Committee and maintained 100% coverage of enterprise-wide performance and compliance evaluations.

Looking ahead, China Mobile plans to keep strengthening communications, computing and AI services, target further reductions in carbon intensity, and continue expanding 5G-A, 6G and AI applications across industries.
