U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he discussed "expectations for a strong yen that reflects Japan's solid economic fundamentals" during a phone call with Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama on Friday.
Bessent made the remarks in a post on X about the call.
Bessent said the two sides also discussed the importance of maintaining close communication on foreign exchange markets.
