The power battery recycling industry is poised to enter a new stage of standardized and digital development as the digital identity management system for power batteries accelerates its implementation.
According to a report, China has launched the establishment of a digital identity management system for power batteries, achieving "traceable origins and verifiable destinations" for power batteries through unified coding and full-lifecycle information tracking.
By 2030, the comprehensive utilization volume of retired power batteries is targeted to reach over one million tons.
The power battery digital identity will record 96 items of information, including 54 basic information items, 24 operational and maintenance items, and 18 recycling items, connected throughout the battery's full lifecycle via a 24-digit code.
With the national new energy vehicle power battery traceability information platform now operational, production information, maintenance records, and recycling histories of retired batteries will become easier to query, helping recycling companies determine whether batteries are suitable for cascading utilization or dismantling and regeneration, while also enhancing the traceability of sources and flows of recycled materials.
The report highlighted ENVISION GREEN (01783) as an example, introducing its layout in the field of power battery recycling.
It is understood that the company's recycling network covers Europe, the Americas, and Asia, with more than 70 service locations; its battery processing facilities adopt fully automated battery material production lines, combining intelligent identification technology with smart dismantling processes to achieve full-chain processing from collection, safe discharging, smart dismantling, to efficient material recovery.
Against the backdrop of gradually improving industry regulation, the technical capabilities, processing efficiency, and compliance management levels of power battery recycling companies are expected to attract further attention.
The digital identity system helps promote information transparency in the recycling process, providing support for the standardized handling of retired batteries and the entry of recycled materials into supply chains with higher compliance requirements.
For ENVISION GREEN, its global recycling network and automated processing facilities are expected to provide support for the company to adapt to upgraded industry standards and seize market opportunities in power battery circular utilization.
In addition, a relevant person in charge of ENVISION GREEN stated in the report that the company has obtained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management system certifications, with non-hazardous waste density decreased by 50% compared to the FY2023-2024 baseline, achieving the set target ahead of schedule; the company was also included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2026.
The company stated that it will continue to apply green technology to serve the cause of power battery recycling.
Overall, as the power battery digital identity system gradually advances, the industry is expected to accelerate the establishment of a traceable, circular, and green recycling system.
ENVISION GREEN's layout in global service networks, automated processing, and green technology provides it with certain competitive advantages in the process of industry standardization.
