Global markets are reacting to escalating military actions. On the evening of March 27, U.S. stocks opened lower following reports of new airstrikes.
According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, the United States and Israel have carried out strikes targeting a steel plant in southwestern Iran and objectives in the city of Isfahan. Among the sites hit were two steel facilities in Iran’s central Isfahan Province. These plants belong to Iran’s two largest producers—Khuzestan Steel Company and Mobarakeh Steel Company.
The attacks are part of a broader military campaign targeting critical Iranian infrastructure, including energy installations, nuclear sites, and industrial complexes in Isfahan Province and near Khorramshahr.
Isfahan is a major industrial hub with significant steel and manufacturing bases that support Iran’s economy and defense systems.
Reports indicate that the facilities were hit in separate strikes. Emergency responders have arrived at the scenes, but details on damages or casualties are not yet available.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it has destroyed multiple fuel suppliers and logistical support vessels belonging to U.S. forces at the Al-Hajj base.
Shortly before the strikes, Israeli Defense Minister Katz issued a statement warning the Iranian regime to halt missile launches against Israeli civilians. He emphasized that despite warnings, missile attacks have continued, prompting Israel to escalate and expand strikes against targets and regions believed to be aiding Iran’s weapon systems aimed at Israeli citizens. He warned that Iran would face a heavy and increasing price for these actions.
As the weekend approaches, traders are reevaluating their positions. Some analysts note that significant decisions have often been announced by U.S. leaders during market closures. For instance, a weekend announcement once gave Iran 48 hours to reach a deal or face severe strikes—a plan later canceled on Monday morning. This pattern has led to caution among investors, as holding positions over the weekend may lead to unfavorable market openings on Monday.
Markets experienced broad declines, with significant liquidations reported.
