"Didi Smart Minibus" trial operation in the Economic Development Area from November 3, 4 yuan flat fare. Starting November 3, Beijing's Economic and Technological Development Area will trial "Didi Smart Minibus" service within a 15-square-kilometer core area. This new convenience travel option, launched by the development area in cooperation with the Didi platform, combines the convenience of ride-hailing with the affordability of public transport. During the trial, each ride costs 4 yuan; after passengers submit a request, the system matches the nearest vehicle, and each vehicle can carry up to 25 people. The smart minibus has a bright orange body marked with "Didi Smart Minibus." The interior is simple and clean, with 12 seats and capacity for 25 people when full. Vehicles operate daily from 7:00 to 22:00, covering morning and evening peaks and main daytime travel periods. Passengers open the Didi app or mini-program, enter the origin and destination, choose "Smart Minibus" to call, and the system automatically matches the nearest boarding point and dispatches nearby vehicles; after boarding, the driver verifies the mobile number and the trip begins. The smart minibus is similar to ride-hailing in many ways: passengers submit requests, the system matches nearby vehicles, and routes are created based on orders. The minibus uses a combination of virtual and actual points, with more than 400 preset virtual and actual points within the trial area. "Ordinary buses have fixed routes, while the minibus can dynamically plan driving paths based on orders, but boarding and alighting must be completed at preset stops," said a person in charge of the operations department. Relying on back-end algorithms, the system completes nearby dispatch within about 4 to 5 square kilometers around the order location and integrates orders from passengers going the same way into one route; the driver receives instructions in real time and picks up passengers in sequence, forming a driving path that better fits demand. The "Didi Smart Minibus" is also affordable. According to reports, during the trial, the smart minibus uses a single fare of 4 yuan per person, with no meter and no distance calculation. Groups traveling together no longer need to call separate cars; one minibus can pick up accompanying passengers together, making travel more worry-free. Beyond convenience, safety is also guaranteed. It is reported that the smart minibus is equipped with a minibus driver who provides full-journey support. The operations team has also established mechanisms for emergency duty, fault handling, and reporting to local authorities. The operator will also closely collect operating data and passenger feedback, and continue optimizing response times and route precision so that dispatch is smarter and travel is safer. Since October 23, the minibus has carried out pre-trial road tests, simulating more than 30 calls and pickup processes on average each day to refine dispatch logic and driving routes. A person in charge of the Economic Development Area Urban Operations Bureau said that if trial feedback is good, the smart minibus service area will gradually expand to cover more streets and serve more residents.
